How Daveon Helps Clients
Daveon represents management in employment litigation matters before federal and state courts, as well as federal and state agencies. He has defended both single and multi-plaintiff lawsuits involving the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Family Medical Leave Act, as well as employment-related torts, contracts, and civil rights claims.
Before joining Buchanan, Daveon served as Deputy Attorney General in the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, Division of Law. In that capacity, he handled a full caseload of complex employment litigation matters and defended numerous cases filed against state departments and agencies, including correctional institutions, the Department of Human Services, the Department of Labor, and New Jersey Transit. In trial practice, Daveon served as second-chair in two cases brought under the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, and has effectively advocated on behalf of numerous other clients in disputes which settled through negotiation and mediation prior to trial.
Following law school, Daveon served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Thomas W. Sumners, Jr., of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division, where he assisted with complex civil matters, including employment litigation matters and welcomed the opportunity to further enhance his writing abilities.
During law school, Daveon served as a judicial extern to the Honorable Michael A. Shipp, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Daveon’s diverse experiences, combined with his background as a former prosecutor and experience in civil litigation in the public sector, provides him a unique vantage point to counsel clients as they navigate investigations or litigation. Daveon takes initiative, exhibits keen composure, and is a relentless advocate on behalf of his clients. Daveon strikes the proper balance between meeting employers’ operational needs and preventing or limiting their exposure in a practical manner. Daveon welcomes the challenges and pressure inherent in litigation and is comfortable in the court room persuading a judge or jury. In all cases, Daveon aims to achieve principled, fair, and equitable resolutions.

Outside the Office
Daveon enjoys spending time with his wife, daughter, extended family and friends. Daveon is passionate about mentoring and volunteering. He enjoys traveling and experiencing the arts. You can often find him visiting a museum, attending a theater show, or at a live music performance. Daveon has been labeled a “foodie,” a title he cannot deny. A good dining experience is one of his simple joys. Daveon is an avid basketball, football, and baseball fan. In times of relaxation or to clear his mind, Daveon enjoys running, biking, and listening to podcasts.
