Cathy Beveridge, a labor and employment expert at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, said about a third of her clients chose to raise salaries while the other two thirds chose to convert employees to hourly or at least better track hours worked. Now those companies have a choice to make. Continue with implementation, which was scheduled for Dec. 1, or cancel it. Which decision employers make depends largely on how far along they got in the implementation process, according to all three attorneys.
