As stated by the Legal 500,

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's highly rated IP group works primarily out of its office in Alexandria, Virginia, which is just two blocks down from the USPTO. The firm also has partners working out of Pittsburgh and New York. The active team obtained 1,035 patents in 2009, and is chaired by the hugely experienced Patrick Keane, who has a strong hi-tech focussed practice. Other key partners include Pittsburgh's Michael Dever, who has a broad practice that includes chemical products, biomedical devices, and mechanical and electromechanical devices. Alexandria-based partner James LaBarre is also recommended for his experience in computer-related and e-commerce technologies, as well as wireless communications and digital electronics. Over a quarter of the team served in the USPTO as examiners, while patent interferences, re-examinations and reissues form a large part of the overall practice. Recent clients include ABB, Chevron, Konica Minolta, Lockheed Martin, L'Oréal, MedQuist and Samsung.
