Law360 and the Pittsburgh Business Times noted that Richard I. Thomas joined Buchanan as of counsel, and his son James P. Thomas joined as a shareholder, in the labor and employment practice. Both joined from Pepper Hamilton, where they had worked for 14 years and where Dick had served as the managing partner of the Pittsburgh office for a decade.

“We found a very deep bench in the labor and employment group not just in Pittsburgh, but nationally,” Richard Thomas told Law360. “We see a tremendous opportunity for both of us.”

“From my perspective, it was the quality of Buchanan Ingersoll’s employment practice,” James Thomas explained, noting that he had worked with some of Buchanan’s attorneys on previous cases. “That, of course, was one of the major factors in my decision.”
