Tampa, FL – May 11, 2015 - Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, along with SunTrust Bank and the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay is hosting the 21st Annual CPE Extravaganza on May 13, 2015. This day-long event offers eight hours of continuing professional education credit in Accounting and Auditing (A & A) and will also feature the presentation of ten scholarships to local accounting students.

The event typically attracts 200 attendees and event generates proceeds that benefit the Ralph J. Poe, CPA Accounting Scholarship Fund. This year ten students will receive $2,000 scholarships to attend a variety of Tampa Bay area colleges to focus on their education in accounting.

“It is our pleasure to provide these future professionals with assistance as they pursue their accounting education,” said Richard Jacobson, shareholder of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. “The CPE Extravaganza has proven to help the accountants of today and tomorrow become more successful in their chosen careers.”

More than $160,000 in scholarships supporting 75 students have been awarded over the years. This year’s recipients and their institute of higher learning are the following:

Wendy “John” Tuy and Victoria Valinski – University of South Florida, Tampa

Inga Prokhorova and Kevin Smith – University of South Florida, SF-St. Pete

Kelley “KC” Wilson and Ryan Young – Florida Southern College

Pierce Dean and Carl Dunne – St. Leo University

Lucie Matulikova and Allison Butler – University of Tampa
