Pittsburgh, PA, May 2, 2011 — Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC is opening an office in Southpointe to accommodate the continued growth of its energy practice, which includes Oil and Gas (Marcellus shale), Coal, Renewable Energy and Environmental sectors. The office space will be used by lawyers who have been spending an increasing amount of time with clients in Canonsburg. The office will initially include five offices and two conference rooms, and will provide Buchanan with the ability for future expansion when additional space becomes available.

"Leasing office space where many of our clients are centrally located will help us better serve our clients," stated Coal Practice Group Leader Matt Burger.

Oil and Gas Practice Group Leader Sean Moran added, "By effectively being 'on site' with our clients, we'll be able to collaborate and exchange information first-hand, and also more easily stay at the forefront of industry developments."

Buchanan expects its Southpointe facilities, located at 400 Southpointe Blvd., Suite 100, to be fully operational by mid-May, and will be utilized by lawyers and lobbyists who have clients there. Buchanan's Energy Section includes more than 80 lawyers and government relations professionals whose practices cover a broad range of energy-focused legal and lobbying services from litigation, corporate transactions and leasing to environmental and regulatory issues. Some of the firm's Southpointe-based clients include CONSOL Energy, Range Resources and Rice Energy.

In the past two years, Buchanan's Energy Section has represented clients in more than $12 billion in energy-related transactions. The firm continues to experience a heavy volume of ongoing transactional and land work, and has recently seen an uptick in zoning/land use, environmental regulatory and litigation projects.
