Philadelphia, PA, August 12, 2013 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC announced today the addition of Michael J. Hanlon as shareholder in its Labor and Employment Section. Hanlon will be based out of the firm’s Philadelphia office. Previously with Blank Rome LLP, Hanlon has distinguished experience in counseling large corporations and government entities about all aspects of employment law and strategic legal issues. He routinely handles executive compensation, employment discrimination and public education issues.

“Michael has expertly handled a number of high-profile cases, and his excellent reputation precedes him as he joins our firm,” said Fred D’Angelo, shareholder in the firm’s Labor & Employment section. “With this addition to our Labor and Employment Section, we are firmly established as one of the most experienced labor groups in all of Philadelphia.”

“I’m eager to get started and work with the accomplished team at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney,” said Hanlon. “The firm has always been recognized for having a strong Labor and Employment practice, and I know working here will give me the ability to continue to bring high quality service to my clients.”

Over his career, Hanlon has represented a state government during the largest urban school takeover in the country. He has negotiated major collective bargaining agreements for state and local governments, and he has defended a chemical manufacturer in a serious Occupational Safety and Health Administration case. He has also successfully resolved multiple plaintiff employment discrimination claims.

Hanlon’s track record has earned him accolades from “Chamber’s USA” several years in a row, in which he has been praised for being “a negotiator who attains the must-have objectives,” a “preeminent labor lawyer” and “a tried and tested professional with an excellent temperament.” He has also been included in “Who’s Who in American Law” and has achieved the highest possible rating from Martindale-Hubbell® legal information service. His articles are published regularly in legal publications.

Hanlon received his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 1981 and his Bachelor of Science from University of Pennsylvania in 1976.
