CHARLOTTE, N.C. – August 27, 2015 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney announced the addition of B. Taber Cathcart as head of the firm’s Charlotte office and shareholder in the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group.
“Taber is a top-quality financial services attorney with substantial experience and connections in the financial arena,” Chair of Buchanan’s Financial Services Practice Rebecca Livingston Lando said. “She brings an entrepreneurial spirit that will help to spearhead the growth of the firm’s Charlotte office.”
Cathcart focuses her practice on diversified financial transactions, primarily concentrating on senior and subordinated debt transactions, including acquisition finance and working capital credit facilities. Her practice includes a broad range of experience representing financial institutions, investment firms and institutional investors in a variety of roles. She has represented agent banks, arrangers, underwriters and lead senior and/or mezzanine debt providers. She handles secured and unsecured syndicated credit facilities, club deals and single-lender transactions.
“As the financial market continues to thrive in Charlotte, this is an exciting time for my practice,” said Cathcart. “Buchanan’s growth strategy in Charlotte coupled with their strong reputation in the financial sector, provides me with a unique opportunity to not only enhance my practice, but to also attract high level talent in the Charlotte legal market and offer expanded capabilities to the firm’s clients.”
Cathcart is the second new shareholder to join Buchanan’s Financial Services Practice in recent months, following the earlier arrival of Philadelphia Shareholder James Lawlor in July. The two are among the nearly 100 attorneys working in the firm’s Financial Services and Real Estate Section. She also joins Labor & Employment Shareholder Lynn Krisay Brehm who recently transferred to the firm’s Charlotte office.
Cathcart earned her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina.
