How Brandon Helps Clients
Brandon Peck is an Associate in the firm’s Labor and Employment section. Brandon was a member of Buchanan's 2017 Summer Associate Program, where he worked with shareholders and associates on a wide range of matters, including the enforceability of non-compete agreements, the applicability of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) exemptions to clients’ employment situations, and potential ethical dilemmas attorneys may face in counseling clients on the legalization of medicinal marijuana. Additionally, he actively participated in the firm’s pro bono programs.
Prior to joining Buchanan, Brandon attended the University of Miami School of Law on a Dean’s Academic Merit Scholarship. While in law school, he worked as the Legal & Government Affairs Intern within the General Counsel’s Office for the Miami Dolphins football organization. At the Miami Dolphins, he was responsible for drafting various types of documents, including vendor, service and sponsorship agreements as well as the organization’s Business Code of Conduct. Brandon was also actively involved in the drafting of the Miami Dolphins’ Hard Rock Stadium naming rights agreement.
Brandon was also a member of the University of Miami Investor Rights Clinic (IRC), a pro bono legal service that provides representation to individuals of modest means and who have suffered investment losses as a result of broker misconduct and predatory investment schemes. While working with the IRC, Brandon evaluated the legitimacy of small investor claims and aided in the prosecution of securities arbitration proceedings before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). In recognition for his work with the IRC, Brandon received the CALI Excellence for Future Award.
Due to his background in entrepreneurship and involvement with several startup companies, Brandon has gained personal experience and familiarity in the formation of businesses, general corporate matters and contract negotiations.
As a member of the University of Miami Business Law Review (UMBLR), Brandon's article regarding the statutory interpretation of cryptocurrencies under federal and state money laundering laws was published in its Fall 2017 journal.
