How Abigail Helps Clients
Abigail F. Coster is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on white-collar criminal defense, securities enforcement, and government and internal investigations, as well as high-stakes commercial disputes and appellate litigation. She represents defendants, targets, and witnesses in federal and state criminal proceedings and in regulatory investigations by the SEC, SROs, and state attorneys general, including those involving charges of insider trading, market manipulation, financial fraud, and public corruption.
Abigail has broad civil litigation experience as well, having defended public companies, financial institutions, hedge funds, asset managers, and individual officers and directors in shareholder derivative suits, securities class actions, contract disputes, business-related tort actions, and contests over corporate control. She has also handled appeals in federal and state courts involving issues of both criminal and complex commercial law, and has obtained multiple reversals in her clients’ favor at the appellate stage through her powerful writing and advocacy.
Nationally recognized in the legal industry, Abigail has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America’s “Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch” edition for both 2021 and 2022.
Prior to joining Buchanan, Abigail was an associate at a multidisciplinary firm, where she represented a variety of financial services firms and other clients in high-stakes securities and shareholder litigation, banking and securities enforcement actions, and white-collar criminal investigations and trial.
