Velika Nespor is a healthcare and commercial litigator and a member of the long‑term care practice group in the firm’s Philadelphia office. She also practices employment law, representing employers in Workers' Compensation and Unemployment Compensation matters. She regularly represents hospitals and skilled nursing facilities in professional and corporate negligence cases. Keeping current on federal and Pennsylvania healthcare regulations, she fights to defend caregivers and healthcare providers throughout the tri‑state area.
Recently, she won a favorable decision for an employer after successfully cross-examining the claimant in front of an Unemployment Compensation Board of Review Referee. Claimant's appeal was denied.
As a former Summer Associate at the firm, Velika produced memorandums on restrictive covenants, bankruptcy law, and employers' bargaining obligations under NLRB law, among other subjects. She also performed contract review and was involved in corporate matters.
During law school, Velika was a Dean’s Fellow and a Thurgood Marshall Scholar. She was a Notes Editor and the Technology Editor of the Public Contracts Law Journal. She also received the Excellence in Oral Advocacy Award in the Dentons Government Contracts Moot Court Competition. Further, she served as a legal assistant for Professor Arthur Wilmarth preparing digests of new literature on the Great Recession of 2008. She also served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Noel L. Hillman of the United States District Court: District of New Jersey, during which time she drafted opinions and orders pertaining to various cases involving the Fair Labor Standards Act and bankruptcy.
