"They should be commended for their foresight," said attorney Shawn Gallagher of the Pittsburgh law firm Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney. "To do something like this today would likely be financially prohibitive for such a small organization, but they had the vision to act some 30 years ago.

“Licensing was not nearly as common in 1988 as it is today,” Gallagher added. “For an amateur group that size, 30 years ago, seeking copyright protection was a shrewd business decision.”
