In the May edition of HCBA Lawyer Magazine, Co-managing Shareholder of the firm’s Tampa office, Hala A. Sandridge, discusses foster care in her special feature titled, “Helping the Youngest Foster Children Find Safety and Permanence.” In her article she highlights and thanks the L. David Shear Children’s Law Center for their help in providing safety and permanence for children up to age 5 and their older siblings.

Sandridge notes that the Florida Bar Foundation has provided special annual grants for legal assistance to children since the early 1990s. “Bay Area Legal Services has received $996,108 in Children’s Legal Services grants from the foundation since the program began,” she writes.

While regrettably stating that the Florida Bar Foundation will not be able to provide Children’s Legal Services funding to the L. David Shear Children’s Law Center in 2014 due to the devastating impact of low interest rates on revenue from Florida’s Interest on Trust Accounts (IOTA), Sandridge thanks “all the organizations and individuals who have made the L. David Shear Children’s Law Center a success.”
