Shane focuses his practice on professional liability, and specifically concentrates on defending medical professionals and long term care facilities. Other areas of experience include premises liability, products liability and insurance coverage issues.

Prior to joining Buchanan, Shane served as an associate at a general litigation firm in Syracuse, New York, where he defended clients’ interests at motion term, pre-trial conferences, depositions and Worker’s Compensation Board Hearings. Shane also has experience handling matters involving electronic discovery, cyber law and the disclosure of privacy-protected social media information.

In law school, Shane was an active member of the Syracuse Law Review and Moot Court Honor Society. He was a two-year member of the College of Law’s Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition team, and was named as a top ten advocate at the competition’s 2013 Midwest Regional Round.

In his final year of law school, Shane served as a law clerk at the United States Attorney’s Office, Northern District of New York, where he defended claims brought under the Federal Tort Claims Act, Civil Rights Act of 1964 and other federal statutes, assisted in the prosecution of bankruptcy matters, and contributed to the prosecution and trial of criminal narcotics offenses.

During the summer of 2011, Shane served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Mitchell S. Goldberg in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
