Randy P. Vulakovich Shares Buchanan’s Competitive Intelligence Strategy with The Legal Intelligencer

As law firms begin to create formalized competitive intelligence positions and departments, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Chief Business Development Officer Randy P. Vulakovich shares his insight with The Legal Intelligencer on how Buchanan is keeping ahead of the game.

Vulakovich told the publication that expertise within law firms is often dispersed across departments. "One-size-fits-all doesn’t work for law firms," he noted.

The article reported that Buchanan does utilize a dedicated researcher who has a business and marketing background, and that the firm’s library researchers often take the lead on researching different area of law or a company’s legal filings in an area.

"I can be mediocre at everything or great at something," Vulakovich said. "So we are trying to find people great at serving lawyers in pockets. It's a delicate balance."
