On November 16, 2009, James S. Cohen — a shareholder in the Food and Drug Section of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Washington, D.C., office — presented at the Advanced Medical Technology Association's (AdvaMed) program, "Combination Products: Regulations, Guidance, Proposed Rules, Strategies, and Practical Challenges," which took place November 16 and 17 at the AdvaMed Medical Technology Learning Institute in Washington, D.C. AdvaMed is the national and leading medical device trade organization in the United States.

Cohen, a nationally recognized expert on combination products and on FDA compliance requirements and activity, presented "Proposed Rule on cGMP Requirements for Combination Products – Framework, Issues, Comments." In his presentation to medical device industry leaders, Cohen described the legal and regulatory framework of FDA's recently published Proposed Rule and discussed the primary issues and questions of concern for the regulated industry.
