Princeton, NJ, May 17, 2010 — Brian N. Rath, counsel in the Health Care Section of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Princeton office, was elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the United Way of Greater Mercer County (UWGMC) during UWGMC's Annual Meeting on May 12, 2010. Rath's two-year term as Chairman will begin July 1, 2010.

Created in 1994, UWGMC is an independent nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of and serving the people who live and/or work in the greater Mercer County, New Jersey region, specifically in the areas or education, income and health. As Chairman of the Board, Rath will act as the lead volunteer for all UWGMC-related issues, and will oversee the development of new initiatives, including financial, structural and policy decisions that guide the organization.

Previously, Rath was a member of, as well as Corporate Counsel to, the Board of Trustees and has served on UWGMC's Resource Investment Cabinet.

About Rath

Brian Rath's practice focuses on the representation of health care entities, particularly long-term care facilities and hospitals, on a range of issues including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, federal and state regulatory compliance and health care entity mergers and acquisitions. He also litigates matters in jurisdictions throughout the United States.

Rath received both his undergraduate and law degrees from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He is a resident of Upper Freehold Township where he lives with his wife, Kristin, and two children, Satya and Brendan.
