NEW YORK – August 11, 2015 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is pleased to announce that Shareholder Philip L. Hirschhorn has been named head of Buchanan’s New York office, as Shareholder Stuart P. Slotnick’s term as office head comes to a close.

“Phil is well-positioned to lead the New York City office as a current member of the Advisory Committee, the Lateral Recruitment Committee and a co-head of the IP Litigation Practice Group,” Slotnick said. “This is a particularly exciting time for the New York City office as the firm is committed to its growth and expansion.”

Hirschhorn has more than 25 years of experience in a broad spectrum of matters, including more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property. Hirschhorn specializes in intellectual property litigation, including traditional patent infringement matters and Hatch-Waxman litigation. His extensive experience also includes copyright and trademark/trade dress litigation.

He has counseled clients on the interplay between Patent Office and district court proceedings. He has represented clients in Patent Office proceedings, including ex parte and inter partes reexaminations and, with the advent of the America Invents Act, adversarial post-grant proceedings, including inter partes reviews. He is also a frequent speaker on intellectual property matters.

A New York native, Hirschhorn earned his law degree from Fordham University and his bachelor’s degree from Columbia College.
