Craig D. Mills, a shareholder in the Litigation practice at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Philadelphia office, will be one of two presenters to lead a November 3, 2008, intellectual property seminar. The program, titled "Obtaining (or Avoiding) Enhanced Damages and Fees In Trademark, Trade Secret & Patent Actions," is being offered by The Pennsylvania Bar Institute and will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 4:15 p.m. at The CLE Conference Center, in the Wanamaker Building, Suite 1010, in Philadelphia.

The seminar is intended for attorneys who represent either plaintiffs of defendants in IP claims, in-house counsel, corporate attorneys, or any lawyer who works with intellectual property matters.

Topics to be addressed include:

  • Statutory and case law requirements for entitlement to attorneys' fees in patent, copyright, trademark and trade secret cases
  • What is sufficient and not sufficient to support a finding that a trademark or patent case is "exceptional" enough to support an award of attorneys' fees
  • Ethics involving trade secrets and settlements
  • Practice pointers
