Beginning December 15, 2017, establishments with 250 or more employees, and establishments in certain high hazard industries with 20-249 employees, must begin electronically submitting to OSHA information from their 2016 OSHA Form 300A (Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses). On July 1, 2018, besides electronically submitting their 2017 OSHA Form 300A information, establishments with 250 or more employees must also begin electronic submission of their 2017 OSHA Forms 300 (Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses) and 301 (Injury and Illness Incident Report), and establishments in certain high hazard industries with 20-249 employees must electronically submit information on their 2017 OSHA Form 300A.

Importantly, coverage is determined by the number of employees in each of an employer’s establishments, i.e., each separate physical location, not by the employer’s total number of employees. In this regard, multiple buildings on a single campus may be considered as a single establishment for determining coverage.
