Michael M. Lyons is of counsel with the Corporate and International Business Law practice groups in Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Pittsburgh office, concentrating his practice in securities, municipal finance and corporate law.
Michael's experience includes representing clients in public and private offerings, reporting and proxy compliance under the federal and state securities laws, municipal bond issues, mergers and acquisitions and matters involving the regulation of broker-dealers, investment advisers and investment companies.
Michael has garnered an AV® Preeminent certification from Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings, the highest available mark for professional excellence. He is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. He is a member of the American (Committees on Federal Regulation of Securities and State Regulation of Securities), Michigan, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Allegheny County (chair-person, Corporation, Banking and Business Law Section) Bar Associations and a member of the National Association of Bond Lawyers (chairman, Committee on Federal Arbitrage Law (1983-1984). He is also Co-Chair of the Attorney Advisory Committee of the Pennsylvania Securities Commission and a member of the Professional Ethics Committee of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
He was a frequent lecturer for continuing legal education programs, and has chaired the panel on regulations and regulatory proposals for PBI's program on Current Topics in Pennsylvania Securities Law. Before joining the firm, Michael was assistant general counsel of GATX Corporation in Chicago. He was a member of Sewickley Borough Council and served on the Sewickley Borough Planning Commission. He also served as Chairman of the Sewickley Zoning Hearing Board.
Michael received his B.B.A., M.B.A. and J.D. degrees from the University of Michigan and was an assistant editor of the Michigan Law Review.
