David Gurwin, Shareholder in Buchanan's Corporate section, is quoted in Corporate Dispute's "License to Quarrel: Managing Software Licensing Disputes."

According to David A. Gurwin, technology transactions, intellectual property, and entertainment and media attorney at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, the most common reasons for a software licensing dispute being brought by a licensor are either the alleged outright unauthorized use of the software or an allegation that the number of copies of the software being used or the number of people accessing software - when software as a service (SaaS) is the distribution model - exceeded the number of authorised copies, seats or users.
