How Jonathan Helps Clients
Jonathan R. Bowser focuses his practice on intellectual property law, with a special emphasis on inter partes matters before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, in federal courts, and before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). Jonathan specializes in challenging and defending the validity of patents in post-grant proceedings including inter partes review (IPR), post-grant review (PGR), covered business method (CBM) review, ex parte reexamination, and reissue applications. Jonathan also focuses on appellate procedures before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Jonathan also specializes in client counseling including preparing opinions on validity, freedom to operate, and infringement. In addition, Jonathan assists clients in leveraging their patent rights through the evaluation, licensing and/or sale of patents.
As a registered patent attorney, Jonathan has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including appellate procedures before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and the Federal Circuit. Jonathan’s technical area of focus is in electrical, computer and software programming, semiconductor, telecommunications, power systems, networking, medical devices, and business method-related inventions.

Jonathan is a co-editor of the Buchanan PTAB report, an information center that provides insights into post-grant practice and articles concerning recent developments in Patent Office litigation. Jonathan is active in bar associations focusing on post-grant proceedings, including the PTAB Trial Committee of the AIPLA and the USPTO Post-Grant and IPR Practice Committee of the American Bar Association.
Outside of the Office
Jonathan is a coach for his children’s soccer teams. He also manages and plays for an adult soccer team.
