Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney client Adams Manufacturing Corp., best known for pioneering suction cup technology, is proud of its American-made brand, a distinction Intellectual Property Shareholder Lynn J. Alstadt has worked hard to protect.

Founder William Adams “feels strongly about selling products made in the U.S., but they are very easy to copy,” Alstadt explained in a Pittsburgh Tribune Review article. “So we go after (patent violators) and have been successful.”

As noted by the Tribune Review, Alstadt “has represented Adams since its beginning, registered its patents and successfully defended the company in at least a dozen cases against foreign manufacturers, as well as U.S. retailers that sell their products.”

Alstadt remains impressed by Adams’ ingenuity, which started with a $10,000 inheritance in 1981 and has grown into “a $50 million-plus enterprise.”
