Washington, D.C. – November 24, 2014 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC announced today that Elizabeth Westbrook has joined the firm’s government relations practice in Washington, D.C., bringing experience in both state and federal affairs.

“Elizabeth brings an additional element to an already exceptional and diverse team. She will assist in providing current and future clients an increasingly needed regulatory component with in-depth analyses, outreach to health care government agencies and strategic advice,” said Federal Government Relations Practice Group Leader Michael P. Strazzella.

Prior to Buchanan, Westbrook served as a strategy and operations consultant for Deloitte Consulting, where she worked with federal agencies and non-profits on healthcare and national security issues. As a consultant she served as policy counsel on health IT legislative and communications issues for Veterans Affairs and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, with a focus on Health IT and interoperability with the private sector.

Westbrook was a member of Congressman Scott Murphy’s finance team, where she focused her efforts on identifying potential donors and targeting ask amounts. She also served as a member of Congressman Dan Maffei’s recount legal team, working at several Boards of Elections throughout New York’s 25th Congressional District, managing ballot-review and assisting the lead attorneys as they prepared arguments for court appearances.

She earned her law degree from the George Washington University Law School and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California.
