Our Roots
During the last decade, the law firm that is now Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC emerged from the combination of the attorneys and practices of four highly regarded firms.
- Buchanan Ingersoll PC, which traces its history to 1850, engaged in business finance and governance, commercial litigation, employment and labor, financial institutions, business and personal tax and health care.
- Klett Rooney Lieber & Schorling, a Pittsburgh-based firm since 1965, engaged in commercial litigation, employment and labor, real estate and business finance and government relations.
- Burns Doane Swecker & Mathis LLP, founded in 1936, focused on international intellectual property practice covering patent and trademark prosecution, portfolio development, litigation, reexamination, interference, and transactions.
- Silverstein and Mullens, a Washington, D.C. firm founded in 1960, focused on business and personal tax, estate planning and editing the BNA Tax Management Portfolio.
Today, as an integrated organization, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney continues to build core practice areas and industry capabilities that reflect the needs and expectations of our clients.
