While Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. faces an inquiry across the Atlantic, there may be future troubles for the company's ability to broadcast domestically, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Corporate Shareholder and Chair of the firm's Entertainment & Media Law Group David A. Gurwin told CNN Money in an article published July 21, 2011.

"I don't think it's a probability, but I think it's a realistic possibility," Gurwin said of the likelihood News Corp. will face FCC fallout for its actions abroad.

The FCC can revoke or decline to renew broadcast licenses based on a broadcaster's so-called character test.

"To the extent that these allegations are true, it would probably be taken into consideration at least when these renewals are coming up," Gurwin explained.
