WASHINGTON, D.C. – August 1, 2016 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney announces that Edward G. Hild joins the firm as principal in the firm’s government relations practice in Washington, D.C. Hild spent nearly 20 years on Capitol Hill, most recently as chief of staff for U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) and as legislative assistant, legislative director and deputy chief of staff for former U.S. Senator Pete Domenici (R-NM).

Hild is the latest in a string of government relations hires as Buchanan continues to substantially grow the section, focusing on the federal government and local and state governments in Pennsylvania and Florida. Since 2012, Buchanan has hired approximately 25 government relations professionals.

“I’ve known Ed Hild for many years and am delighted to have him at Buchanan. His depth of professional experience, especially as chief of staff to Senator Murkowski and his strong record of bipartisanship are invaluable to our current clients and as we continue to grow our practice,” noted Michael P. Strazzella, co-head of Buchanan’s Washington, D.C. office and federal government relations practice group leader.

Strazzella added, “Ed’s understanding of energy issues and the budget process will not only provide a greater expertise in these areas for our expanding government relations base, but will be a value add to our already robust energy legal practice.”

“Leaving the Hill after nearly 20 years is bittersweet and I will be forever grateful to Senators Murkowski and Domenici for the opportunities they’ve given me. I’m excited to enter this next chapter of my career at Buchanan,” said Hild.

Hild began his Capitol Hill career in 1997 as a legislative correspondent for Sen. Domenici, where he quickly moved up to legislative assistant, legislative director, deputy chief of staff and chief counsel. After Senator Domenici’s retirement in 2008, Hild joined Sen. Murkowski’s office as legislative director. In 2011, he was promoted to chief of staff and served as Sen. Murkowski’s principal advisor on all policy, legislative and campaign issues. Hild also ensured coordination between the Senator’s personal office, her staff on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and her staff on the Senate Interior Appropriations Subcommittee. In addition, Hild assisted the Senator regarding matters relevant to her memberships on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee and the Indian Affairs Committee. During the 111th Congress, Hild was selected to participate as a John C. Stennis Congressional Staff Fellow. He received his B.A. at Ithaca College and his J.D at The John Marshall Law School.
