Deborah M. Suder

Deborah Suder is a key member of the firm's State Government Relations Section. She focuses on the clear and effective flow of information to clients, members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly and their staffs on behalf of several major companies including MasterCard Worldwide, PECO, Hewlett-Packard and Amazon.
Deborah's background includes lobbying for savings and loans, savings banks and retail operations on the deregulation of usuary rate ceiling. She played a key role in the allocation of the Pennsylvania tobacco settlement and tobacco control measures implemented in Pennsylvania and in the slots at race tracks legislative efforts.

Prior to joining Buchanan in 1993, Deborah served as assistant vice president of government affairs for the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers. In this role, she served as a lobbyist and assistant secretary of a political action committee for the state's community banks, savings and loan associations and savings banks representing over $56 billion in assets. Her responsibilities included administering a legislative contact system, monitoring and reporting of federal and state legislation and regulations affecting the financial community and promoting the increase of political activity in membership.

Included in Deborah's experience is more than two years as associate director of governmental affairs for the Pennsylvania Retailers Association. In this position, she served in government relations capacities representing Pennsylvania's general merchandise, swimming pool, jewelry and drug retailing industries.
