Washington, D.C., October 23, 2008 — Patricia R. Lesser, a senior attorney in the Tax practice at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Washington, D.C., office, has been appointed to the Finance Committee of International Fiscal Association (IFA).
IFA is the premier international association of tax professionals, headquartered in The Netherlands. The three-member Finance Committee advises the General Treasurer with respect to IFA's financial statements, its budgets for the upcoming years and any issues of financial interest to the organization.
Lesser's new position is with the central branch of IFA. She is also a member of the Council of the USA Branch of IFA.
The International Fiscal Association, established in 1938, is the only non-governmental and non-sectoral international organization dealing with fiscal matters. Its objectives include the study and advancement of international and comparative law in regard to public finance, specifically international and comparative fiscal law and the financial and economic aspects of taxation. Its membership stands at more than 11,500 members from 96 countries, comprising high level representatives from both the private and the public sectors, including the courts, universities and international governmental and non-governmental organizations.
