Governor Tom Corbett has announced the nomination of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney government relations professional K. Scott Baker to the board of the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency.

The Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency works to provide affordable homeownership and rental apartment options for older adults, low- and moderate-income families, and people with special housing needs. Its 14-member board sets policy and oversees the agency's operations. The governor appoints a total of six private citizen members who must be confirmed by the State Senate.

Baker was secretary of legislative affairs for Governor Tom Ridge and was vice president of the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, an affiliate of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development. He was a board member for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh from 2000 to 2004. He previously served as director for the Office of Congressional Affairs at the Federal Housing Finance Board in Washington, D.C., where he managed the agency's legislative agenda and advised the finance board on strategic planning and outreach to banking trade, housing and community interest organizations.

During the banking crisis of the early 1990s, Baker served as senior legislative advisor to the board of directors for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. He advised on banking, housing and community development issues as legislative director to U.S. Congressman Tom Ridge and as executive assistant to U.S. Senator John Heinz.
