Washington, D.C. – May 26, 2015 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney announced today the addition of Shareholder Kathryn A. Kronquist to its Washington, D.C. office. Kronquist comes to Buchanan from Quarles and Brady LLP, where she was a partner in the firm’s D.C. office. She will focus her practice on commercial finance, commercial real estate finance and bank regulatory matters.

Recognized by The Best Lawyers in America®, Kronquist has deep experience in commercial financing transactions, including syndicated and bilateral facilities, secured and unsecured loans and asset-based acquisition and mezzanine financing.

Kronquist has also served as vice president-general counsel for a federal savings bank and as the president and CEO of the bank’s title company subsidiary. In these roles, she created and implemented operating policies and procedures for the subsidiary, as well as managed the annual budget, business plan and day-to-day operations of the bank.

“Having a broad commercial finance background both before and after having served as general counsel for a bank enables Kate to provide the industry insight our clients are looking for,” said Rebecca Livingston Lando, chair of Buchanan’s Financial Services Section.

Kronquist will join forces with the firm’s existing Financial Services attorneys who have a solid understanding of financial markets and play a key role in structuring, documenting and closing innovative financing transactions, as well as developing cost-effective and practical business solutions.

Kronquist is the third new hire in Buchanan’s D.C. office within the last month. In April, the firm announced the addition of two highly regarded tax attorneys, Susan Seabrook and Carol Setliffe.

“We’re looking for the right fit as we continue to grow our D.C. office. Kate couldn’t be a better match,” said Jacqui F. Lazo co-chair of the firm’s D.C. office. “Her background in banking, finance and real estate paired with the firm’s already substantial footprint in each industry will certainly be another value-add to our clients. It’s a pleasure to welcome her to the firm.”

“Buchanan’s enthusiasm for collaboration and commitment to client service was the hook for me,” Kronquist says. “The firm’s integrated capabilities and geographic reach will be a great advantage to my clients and practice.”

Kronquist received her law degree from DePaul University College of Law and her bachelor’s degree from Marquette University, where she graduated magna cum laude.
