In honor of the 2008 Summer Olympics, Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is a proud sponsor of Philadelphia's "Evening of Champions," an event celebrating the Olympic games and Chinese culture.

The City of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Sports Congress, a division of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, are teaming up to bring a bit of China and the Olympics to Philadelphia by transforming 10th Street between Arch and Race streets into a festival of Olympic and Chinese traditions. The Opening Ceremonies will be broadcast at the festival beginning at 8 p.m.

Free and open to the public, the street festival will celebrate the spirit of Olympism, capture the excitement of the Olympic Games and help to showcase Chinese tradition and culture.

Among the honored guests attending will be Ambassador Consul General Peng Keyu, who is based in New York, along with Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and more than 30 Olympians.

Olympians expected to be on hand signing autographs include:
  • Lesley Bush (diving, 1964, Gold)
  • Nelson Diebel (swimming, 1992, 2x Gold)
  • Ervin Hall (athletics, 1968, Silver)
  • David Krmpotich (rowing, 1988, Silver)
  • Betsy Mitchell (swimming, 1984, Silver)
  • Johnny Weir (figure skating, 2004, Silver)
The event will feature a Sports Showcase and a Chinese Culture Showcase.
