PITTSBURGH – December 22, 2017 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney adds Joseph J. Murzyn as senior advisor to the firm’s State Government Relations group. Murzyn who has worked for former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett during his campaign and his administration, brings 15 years of experience to the firm’s notable practice, including the last five as a senior associate at another Pennsylvania government relations firm. He focuses on helping clients across a variety of industries, including technology, transportation, public funding, education, law enforcement, conservation, energy and agriculture, to achieve their legislative goals and business objectives.

Murzyn served as executive assistant to Tom Corbett when he was Pennsylvania’s Attorney General, served as a field director during Corbett’s campaign for Governor and then as deputy secretary of legislative affairs. During his time in the Governor’s office, Murzyn helped to develop and advance the legislative agenda for 11 agencies, boards and commissions.

“I have known Joe for a number of years and have been impressed with his approach to government relations and the ease with which he builds the necessary connections to assist his clients,” noted Leslie Gromis Baker, co-chair and managing director of Buchanan’s State and Federal Government Relations practice. “Joe’s knack for building grassroots support and coalitions has translated to tremendous successes and will serve our clients well.”

“Not only do I get to join a firm I have long admired and work alongside former colleagues, but I also get to come home to Pittsburgh,” said Murzyn. “I am excited to work with Buchanan’s strong government relations team to help advocate on behalf of our clients across the state.”

Murzyn received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Duquesne University.
