Philadelphia, PA, December 17, 2012 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC announced today that Shareholder Gerald E. Burns has been named a lifetime member of both the Million Dollar and Multi-Million Dollar Advocate Forum. Members of both forums must have acted as principal counsel in at least one case that resulted in a million or multi-million dollar verdict, settlement or award. Throughout his career Burns has won substantial verdicts as both a plaintiff and a counterclaiming defendant representing business clients in complex civil litigation involving fraud.

“It’s an honor to be a part of this prestigious group of trial lawyers,” said Burns. “I believe strongly in being a true advocate for my clients, and that is what has enabled me to reach this level of success.”

The Million Dollar Advocate Forum was founded in 1993 and there are approximately 4,000 members located throughout the country. Less than 1% of U.S. Lawyers are members. Forum membership acknowledges excellence in advocacy and provides members with a national network of experienced colleagues for information exchange and communication.

Among his accomplishments, Burns won a $2 million award in an action on behalf of a national telecommunications company to pierce the corporate veil and hold an individual liable for fraud perpetrated by his company. In addition to multi-million dollar victories, awards and settlements, he has also successfully defended clients in multi-million dollar lawsuits. Burns is a graduate of University of Pittsburgh School of Law and works out of the firm’s Philadelphia office.
