Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney was recently featured as a Pennsylvania Powerhouse by Law360.

"I’d say if there’s anything that separates us, it’s that we have very strong offices in all of Pittsburgh, Harrisburg and Philadelphia," CEO, Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors Jack Barbour told the publication. "And we have, to distinguish us from others, a very strong government relations practice in all of those cities."

Buchanan was noted for its significant Pennsylvania presence with more than 260 lawyers across the three offices in the state.

Asked about the some of the strengths in the firm’s Philadelphia office, Joseph A. Dougherty explained, "Our labor lawyers here are some of the finest labor management practitioners, not just in Philadelphia but for our firm ... [and] probably the area."

Explaining the firm’s experienced Government Relations Practice in Harrisburg, Stephen C. Gierasch told Law360 that, "There’s no doubt that it’s a competitive advantage for us in our local market in that most law firms don’t have lobbying capabilities."

In discussing our Energy practice, Barbour said "What was booming three years ago was the natural gas business, and the legal work spun off from that." Now, he said, "it is sort of refocused from acquisition of assets to more consolidation."

As the firm looks to the future, Barbour told the publication that promising growth areas include Washington, D.C., as well as Florida.
