PITTSBURGH – February 23, 2017 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney names Mariah L. Passarelli, counsel in the firm’s Labor & Employment section, as a member of the 2017 class of Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellows, a program designed to train and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. The firm also names LaToya G. Sawyer-Ndizeye, associate in the Banking & Finance section, as a member of the 2017 class of LCLD Pathfinders, a program that trains early-career attorneys in critical career development strategies including leadership and the building of professional networks.

According to LCLD, both programs offer participants a year of relationship-building, in-person training, peer-group projects, and extensive contact with LCLD’s top leadership as well as online experiential learning and opportunities to network with peers and esteemed LCLD Fellows in small group gatherings.

Passarelli focuses her practice on labor and employment law defense and higher education. An experienced trial attorney, Passarelli provides employer counseling and training, handles matters in administrative proceedings, state and federal courts, and has represented employers in a wide variety of claims, including those under Title IX, Title VII, 42 U.S.C. § 1981, PHRA, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRA, FCRA and OSHA.

Sawyer-Ndizeye focuses her practice on tax-exempt loan and bond financing, real estate transactions and other lending matters. In addition to her work with the firm, Sawyer-Ndizeye also participates in pro bono work for the Homeless Experience Legal Protection Program at Mercy Hospital and the Protection From Abuse Clinic in Allegheny County.
