Philadelphia, PA, June 20, 2012 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC announced today the addition of shareholder John Washlick, former co-chair of the Health Law Practice Group of Cozen O’Connor, to its Health Care Section in Philadelphia. Washlick joined the firm on June 18.

The firm’s Health Care Section consists of more than 30 attorneys and professionals who provide the full spectrum of legal counsel, including transactional, regulatory, labor and employment, FDA, taxation, securities, litigation and corporate governance. Washlick, who focuses on health care transactions and corporate compliance, recently completed two joint ventures and a $20 million home care deal that spanned several states.

Washlick counsels clients ranging from hospitals to entrepreneurs on matters such as professional service agreements, physician recruitment incentives, state and federal fraud and abuse and anti-referral prohibitions, management and provider contracts, and patient healthcare information privacy under state law and HIPAA. He has particular knowledge in the areas of tax-exempt and non-profit law, healthcare mergers and affiliations, as well as joint ventures.

Washlick has taught Tax and Healthcare related courses at both the Widener University School of Law and the Villanova University School of Law for over a decade. He serves on the Board of Directors for the American Health Law Association and the New Jersey State Bar Health & Hospital law section and is co-chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association Health Law Committee. He is a member of a number of other healthcare and charity related boards and committees, and serves as a volunteer attorney for the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and for Volunteers for the Indignant Program. He has been published in many health care and tax related publications, such as Health Law Digest and the New Jersey Law Journal.

Washlick received his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Rhode Island. Prior to attending Southwestern University School of Law, where he received his J.D. in 1986, he worked as a Certified Public Accountant and Corporate Controller. He received his LL.M in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.
