Law360 recently reported about the increase in work for utility attorneys who need to help their clients navigate obstacles to gas exploration in Pennsylvania’s Marcellus Shale. These obstacles include disputes by environmental groups and landowners, as well as federal, state and local regulations and approval processes that can often be complicated. These obstacles can impede projects in the commonwealth that would bring natural gas and natural gas liquids into the market.

“You've got lengthy, unclear regulatory processes, uncertainty about the scope and nature of state and local jurisdiction, and a significant amount of stakeholder involvement that could take a lot of time,” Buchanan Energy Shareholder Alan M. Seltzer tells the publication. “Those are the kinds of things that are really playing into this process.”
