Bankruptcy Shareholder James D. Newell Talks Pittsburgh-area Bankruptcies in Pittsburgh Business Times

James D. Newell, Shareholder in Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney’s Bankruptcy & Insolvency practice, was quoted in a Pittsburgh Business Times article about bankruptcies filed by Pittsburgh-area companies.

In 2012, the Pittsburgh region posted the lowest level of bankruptcy filings since 2006. The 370 filings in 2012 were down 15 percent from 2011.

“It’s consistent with what we’ve seen,” said Newell. “Often things are done in out-of-court workouts with secured lenders and in state court receivership actions.”
