The deadline to submit applications for Community Infrastructure and Tourism Fund (CITF) grants and loans is February 26, 2016. There is an estimated $6,600,000 available in grants and loans for approved applicants. The maximum amount of an individual CITF grant or loan is $250,000. Non-profits and governmental entities are eligible for CITF grants or loans. For-profit businesses are eligible for CITF loans only. Interest rates on CITF loans are determined on a case-by-case basis. The CITF program provides grants and loans to qualifying entities to facilitate economic development through eligible infrastructure-related projects in Allegheny County, including:

  • Acquisition of land and buildings, rights of way and easements;
  • Demolition of structures and removal of abandoned foundations;
  • Grading and site preparation; and
  • Environmental site assessment and remediation.

Application Deadline for the GEDF Grant and Loan Program – Likely Early May 2016

The Redevelopment Authority of Allegheny County has not yet posted the application window or deadline for Gaming Economic Development Fund (GEDF) grants and loans, but it is expected that they will begin accepting applications in March 2016 with a deadline in May 2016. Projects currently under consideration for CITF grants are not eligible for GEDF funding. In order to be considered for GEDF funding, a qualifying project must have at least a $500,000 project budget. Non-profits and governmental entities are eligible for GEDF grants or loans. For-profit businesses are eligible for GEDF loans only. Interest rates on GEDF loans are determined on a case-by-case basis. There is an estimated $3,400,000 available in grants and loans for qualifying applicants. The maximum amount awarded for a single project or application is $500,000. The GEDF program provides grants and loans to qualifying entities for eligible economic development projects in Allegheny County, including:

  • Projects that promote local economic activity and create and/or retain jobs;
  • Workforce development projects;
  • Projects that improve or create civic, cultural, or recreational activities or facilities; and
  • Projects that improve or create infrastructure.
